There is a range of reasons why the latest Apple’s product turned out to be a real breakthrough at the market. Now everybody says that it is clear that the provided functionalities as well as its main features are what consumers really needed. But to define all of them, put together in one gadget and shape that gadget in the form the iPad now enjoys was a real miracle and lots of hard work.

First of all, in contrast to many gadgets available at the market, the iPad provided mobility. From 8 to 10 hours without recharging the battery is really a good result Apple can boast of. Of course, smartphones did have similar characteristics but their really small screens can not be compared with that of the iPad. 3G connectivity provided made the device useful in almost every place of the civilized world. Now people do not have to worry whether there is a Wi-Fi spot in a shopping mall or in a café. Mobility is quite in line with other changes that happened to human civilization – faster means of communication, quicker channels of data transmission. The world is becoming a lot smaller and the iPad is really contributing to the process.

Another advantage of the gadget is compiling a stack of different functionalities a modern consumer might want and, what’s more surprising, really needs. Frankly speaking, most iPad users are real consumers in the worst sense of this word. Of course, it is extremely good for companies and manufacturers which are determined to sell even more products relying on the consumer nature of their buyers. But, in general, this means that people just need a range of functionalities which provide sheer entertainment and quite little productivity – everything from audio- and video streaming to web-surfing is meant to satisfy just some common needs of a person. And, what’s more, quite few people really use the gadget to explore its educational capabilities which Apple stresses so much. Most iPad owners use the gadget for watching the latest show from Hulu, checking their boxes in numerous social networks and reading the latest social gossip. From one point of view these limited functionalities are a real sad representation what a modern user is engaged in. But technological companies should be glad as they are the simplest ones to deliver. It would be much more difficult to install some serious app used in some technological process on a tablet. At least, so far. That’s why the idea of a business tablet though quite luring still remains just a project.

So, providing mobility and entertainment in one gadget Apple has managed to deliver a product which is difficult to compete with. At least now, more than half a year since its release there is no product at the market which can be called its true competitor.
